Oct 23, 2026

There’s something about a warm peach crisp fresh from the oven that just feels like comfort food. This skillet-baked version takes it up a notch with rich, brown butter and a finishing touch of Salt Sisters Applewood Smoked Sea Salt for the perfect balance of sweet, buttery, and a subtly smoky flavor.

Ingredients

For the Peach Filling

6 cups fresh peaches, sliced (about 6–7 peaches) or you can use apples that are in season.

¼ cup brown sugar

1 tbsp cornstarch

1 tbsp lemon juice

½ tsp cinnamon

For the Brown Butter Crisp Topping

½ cup unsalted butter

1 cup old-fashioned oats

¾ cup all-purpose flour

½ cup brown sugar

¼ cup chopped pecans (optional but recommended)

½ tsp cinnamon

For Serving

Vanilla ice cream

Instructions

Step 1: Prep Skillet

Preheat oven to 350°F. Place a 10–12 inch cast iron skillet in the oven while it preheats for extra caramelization.

Step 2: Make sauce

In a bowl, combine peaches, brown sugar, cornstarch, lemon juice, cinnamon, and Salt Sisters Applewood Smoked Sea Salt. Let sit for 5–10 minutes to release juices.

Step 3: Combine and Pour

Carefully remove the hot skillet from the oven and lightly grease it if needed. Pour in the peach mixture.

Step 4: Brown Butter

In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter and cook until it turns golden brown and smells nutty (about 4–5 minutes). Remove from heat.

Step 5: Make Topping

In a separate bowl, mix oats, flour, brown sugar, pecans, cinnamon, and Applewood Smoked Sea Salt. Pour in the brown butter and stir until crumbly. Sprinkle the topping evenly over the peaches in the skillet.

Step 7: Place and Bake

Bake for 35–40 minutes, until the topping is golden and the filling is bubbling around the edges.

Step 8: Cool and Rest

Let cool for 10–15 minutes before serving directly from the skillet. Then Serve warm with vanilla ice cream and a final light pinch of Applewood Smoked Sea Salt.
